Arunachal Pradesh Power Minister Tanga Byaling has admitted to the on-going power crisis in the state, particularly in the capital and said the situation would improve only after June.
Replying to a question raised in the assembly yesterday by PPA member Laeta Umbrey, Byaling informed that in order to avoid extreme difficulties of power shortage, government purchases extra power by importing from outside the region subject to availability of surplus power as well as within the budgetary coverage of the government.
To another question, the minister informed that during winter (September to April), the consumers of the districts which get power supply from the Central Sector Power stations are subject to regular load shedding in order to avoid Grid un-stability due to drying of the catchment area of the hydro electric projects.
"The districts where grid connections are not available also suffer from power disconnection during the same period on the same reasons as the state is dependent on the hydro based power plants," he said.
He appealed the members for creating awareness on power conservation among the people in their respective constituencies.
