Replying to a question raised in the assembly yesterday by PPA member Laeta Umbrey, Byaling informed that in order to avoid extreme difficulties of power shortage, government purchases extra power by importing from outside the region subject to availability of surplus power as well as within the budgetary coverage of the government.
To another question, the minister informed that during winter (September to April), the consumers of the districts which get power supply from the Central Sector Power stations are subject to regular load shedding in order to avoid Grid un-stability due to drying of the catchment area of the hydro electric projects.
He appealed the members for creating awareness on power conservation among the people in their respective constituencies.
