A district vigilance team today caught an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) "red-handed" when he was allegedly taking a bribe.
A spokesperson for the State Vigilance, Rohtak office, said that an ASI posted at the Barauta police station was arrested today while he was taking bribe of Rs 10,000.
The ASI was allegedly taking for a bribe from one Shrawan, of Kulupur village.
Shrawan had earlier filed a complaint with Barauta police station against some persons for allegedly beating his wife Nirmala some 20-15 days ago.
The ASI was asking for the bribe to take action against the accused, the spokesman said.
He said a district vigilance team laid a trap to arrest the ASI after Shrawan approached State Vigilance Bureau with his complaint against the officer.
