Asian groups file complaint over Harvard admission practices

A group of Asian Americans are complaining that Harvard University and other Ivy League schools are using racial quotas to admit other students instead of high-scoring Asians.
More than 60 Chinese, Indian, Korean and Pakistani groups filed a complaint with the civil rights offices at the Justice and Education departments Friday. They want an investigation, and say these schools should stop using racial quotas or racial balancing in admission.
Harvard says its approach to admissions has been found to be "fully compliant with federal law." Officials also say the number of Asian students admitted increased from 17.6 per cent to 21 per cent over the last decade.

Other Asian American groups and officials also released statements supporting affirmative action, or positive discrimination, including two members of US Commission on Civil Rights.
