Assam government fixes 8.7 per cent as GPF interest rates

Assam government has retained the rate of interest on General Provident Fund at 8.7 per cent for the year 2014-15.
The rates fixed were in conformity with the rates fixed by the Centre and would be effective from April one, 2015, an official release said here today.
This rate of interest will be applicable only for GPF of state government employees and officers and staff having GPF Accounts who are serving in Assam.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a tweet said that the state-owned Assam Tea Corporation Limited would give 20 per cent bonus to its tea garden workers.
He also urged all tea companies to pay the same amount.
