Assembly proceedings begin with Vande Mataram

For the first time in the history of Karnataka Legislature, proceedings of the winter session began with the singing of national song Vande Mataram here today.
The decision was taken following suggestions from several members, officials said.
Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimappa had yesterday said that Vande Mataram is sung in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and member Basavaraj Rayareddy had given a proposal on the issue, which was approved unanimously.
