Assistant engineer arrested by Vigilance

An Assistant Engineer of Biramitrapur Municipality in Sundargarh district was today caught by ant-corruption vigilance sleuths for allegedly accepting Rs 15,000 bribe from a man.
Chakradhar Bhuyan was caught by vigilance officers while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 15,000 from a power of attorney holder of a contractor to release security deposit amounting to Rs 1,10,000 deposited by him towards execution of seven developmental works, a vigilance release said.
A trap was laid on and the accused assistant engineer was caught red handed in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 15,000 from the complainant, it said.
The bribe money has been recovered from the drawer of the table of his office. His residential government quarter at Biramitrapur and paternal house at Bhadrak Town are being searched, the release added.
