: An assistant professor at the city-based National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj was today arrested for allegedly molesting a 49-year old woman, his senior, police said.
He was arrested after the woman, also head (in-charge) of the Centre for Equity and Social Development at the institute, lodged a police complaint in April this year accusing Satyaranjan Mahakul (40) of "molesting" and abusing her in the name of her caste, they said.
Mahakul was arrested after investigation and a case on charges of outraging the modesty under relevant sections of IPC and under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against him, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Rajendranagar Division) P Ashok said.
