Taiwanese netbook and tablet maker ASUS, which launched 'Zenbook' and 'Transformer Book' models in the country today, aims at capturing 10 per cent market share in India in the netbook segment within the next one year.
With this goal in mind, the company is seeking to tap the student and NRI buyers in Gujarat, said ASUS India regional head for south Asia Peter Chang, here.
Chang said Gujarat was one of the major industrial hubs in India. "Thus, we have chosen Ahmedabad for the launch of Zenbook and Transformer Book in India. We have designed these products keeping in mind students and skilled workers coming to Gujarat," he said.
"We want to sell 4 lakh netbooks by the end of 2014. From 7 per cent market share today, we want to get at least 10 per cent market share in India within one year in netbook segment.
"I am confident that buyers in Gujarat will become a key factor in achieving those targets," said Chang, accompanied by other company officials including Gujarat branch head Jignesh Bhavsar.
"Gujarat is becoming a major education hub in India. Apart from large and growing student community, We are also eyeing high NRI market here. This is perhaps the only state where people don't hesitate to buy new products," said Bhavsar, who also handles the Rajasthan market.
