Atri Bhattacharya new home secretary

The West Bengal government today appointed Atri Bhattacharya as the new Home Secretary after Additional Chief Secretary Malay Kumar De, who was looking after the department, took over charge as the new Chief Secretary.
Bhattacharya, the Principal Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs department, is likely to be replaced by Vivek Kumar, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Science & Technology Department and Bio Technology Department, a notification issued today by the state government said.
De took over as the new Chief Secretary following retirement of Basudeb Banerjee from the post today.
Banerjee will be the State Chief Information Commissioner on his retirement as Chief Secretary on June 30 and continue at the post for five years or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
