Attempt to loot bank unsuccessful

An unsuccessful attempt was made to break open the strong room of a Gramin Bank, police said today.
The attempt came to light when the branch manager Sarup Singh found locks of the bank broken when he arrived at the bank today morning. He also found that attempts were made to break open the lock of strong room, a police officer said.
However, no theft took place, he said, adding that an investigation has been started in this regard.
Police officials had held a meeting with 72 bank officials of Moga on Friday in which police offered to provide security on payment basis if they did not have security guards.
