Avicii's family announced that the late Swedish DJ's funeral will be a private affair.

The recording artiste, born as Tim Bergling, was found dead in his hotel room in Oman, Muscat on April 20.

"There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii. The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim.

"They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming," Avicii's family said in a statement to Billboard.

The "Wake Me Up" hitmaker's kin had earlier released a statement saying, the late performer "could not go on any longer".

Avicii, who died aged 28, was remembered by EDM duo The Chainsmokers and singer Halsey at 2018 Billboard Music Awards early this week.
