Shanker will take over from Romulus Sirbu, who has been appointed to head Avon Malaysia, the firm said in a statement.
Commenting on his role, Shanker said: "Avon is a company that stands for beauty, innovation, optimism and above all for women. I look forward to steering the India business ahead & in making this iconic brand realize its true potential here."
Shanker had joined Avon in late 2013 as Director for sales and strategy. He has over 16 years of experience with international consumer goods companies.
