Mehta has been so far serving as Axis Capital's interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He will take over the role of Managing Director and CEO of Axis Capital with effect from today, Axis Bank said in a statement.
Mehta has over 25 year experience in capital markets and has headed Enam's institutional business for over 18 years.
Axis Capital has successfully completed 45 ECM, 17 M&A, 4 private equity, 8 structured finance and two public debt transactions worth USD 10 billion in last 15 months since the new government came into power.
