"The continued negative views expressed by you against me have led to a lot of fear among the weak, minority community, especially Muslims, as they believe that I myself and Muslim society might be harmed because of it," Khan said in a four- page letter sent to Raj Bhawan yesterday.
Khan's letter is in reference to media reports that the governor has taken exception to the state government allotting the building that houses Jauhar Research Institute in Rampur to Khan's trust on a lease of Rs 100 per annum for 33 years.
Mentioning a meeting on Raza Library held in the Raj Bhawan in Lucknow on January 27, Khan claimed the governor made sweeping statements against him.
"Less was said on the Raza Library and more on me and such was my humiliation that some of members had to intervene saying that the meeting has not been convened to fulfil political purposes," he said, adding the governor also said certain things which were far from truth.
"I am associated with a political party and it is essential that I come out in defence of the party and the government if you make a statement which is damaging for them," he said.
