Pradhan, a 1987-batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, has been appointed for five years, a Department of Personnel and Training order said.
He has been appointed in place of Anita Bhatnagar Jain. Jain, a 1985-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, had completed her tenure on January 20, 2015.
Pradhan is presently working in his cadre state--Bihar.
NDMA, an apex body under Home Ministry, is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for disaster management to ensure timely and effective response to disasters.
