"The two-day old giraffe died last night at the zoo," Deputy Director, Lucknow Zoo, Utkarsh Shukla told PTI.
The exact cause of death will be ascertained after post- mortem, he said.
The baby was born to an 11-year-old giraffe named Sujata, the only giraffe in the Lucknow Zoological Garden, who was given round-the-clock guard outside its enclosure and nutritious diet for her delivery, he said.
In the past too, Sujata's offspring could not survive due to some complications and genetic disorder, he said.
