A two-month-old baby went missing under mysterious circumstances from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital in central Delhi here this afternoon with her mother alleging that her child had been stolen.
A woman, a resident of Nabi Karim area, had come to visit her eight-year-old child who is admitted in the hospital's ward number 19.
She had left her two-month-old baby with the elder sibling and gone somewhere for a while. When she returned, her two-month-old baby was missing from the ward.
As she raised an alarm, hospital staff informed policemen deployed at the police post in the hospital.
A case has been registered in this regard and police has taken up investigation.
"There could be a local gang behind the incident. We have deployed teams at railway stations, bus stands and other public places to look for the child," said a senior police official.
We are also questioning the hospital staff about the incident and screening the CCTV cameras installed in the corridors of the hospital to look for the accused, he added.
