Badal reviews progress of Sikh-circuit tourism devp plan

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the progress of Rs 250 crore Sikh-Circuit Tourism Development plan, under which prominent Sikh religious places are being developed in the state.
Badal, who was presiding over a high-level meeting of tourism department here, was briefed about the project by Principal Secretary Tourism Geetika Kalha.
The chief minister was told that under the plan various sites of historic significance like Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, Chappar Chiri, Chamkaur Sahib will be developed with a uniform theme to promote Sikh tourism by showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the religion.
Under this plan, big chunk of the amount will be spent to develop the surroundings of the Golden Temple and to preserve Gobindgarh Fort besides establishing different interpretation centers, art and culture centers at various places in Anandpur Sahib, Damdama Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi and Dera Baba Nanak to perpetuate the rich legacy of Sikhism among the youngsters, Kalha told Badal.
