Balanced and factual reporting by media very important: Rawat

Underlining the importance of media in policy formation and social development, Uttarakhand Chief Minister today stressed on the need for balanced, positive and factual reporting by it.
Media cannot be ignored in the modern scenario, the Chief Minister said while inaugurating the Dehradun edition of an English daily, according to a government release.
But looking at the important role played by it in social and economic development and policy formation, balanced, positive and factual reporting by it is very important, he said.
Talking about the state, Rawat said there were vast opportunities of tourism and horticulture in Uttarakhand.
He said there are several talented people in Uttarakhand and if given proper platforms, they will make the state proud.

The Chief Minister said his government is working on a plan so that matters related to old-age pension, scholarships, ration cards etc are not left pending for a long tome.
