Rakesh Kumar was yesterday returning after attending a Tehsil Diwas programme when he was stopped by the activists on the pretext of handing him a memorandum concerning the demands of farmers, SP Manoj Kumar Jha said today.
Kumar was stopped by the activists for about half an hour, Jha said.
The morcha activists had earlier held a dharna at the Sikanderpur tehsil campus without the permission of the administration, he said.
The activists during their dharna alleged that despite central help, farmers who suffered the onslaught of drought and hailstorm had not received any compensation.
Soon after the incident, the District Magistrate transferred SDM Sikanderpur Arvind Kumar.
