Balvender Kumar is new Mines Secretary

Senior Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Balvender Kumar today joined as Secretary, Ministry of Mines.
Before joining the Mines Ministry, Kumar was holding the charge of Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under Ministry of Urban Development.
"He took over the charge from Anup K Pujari IAS (KN: 1980) who is now the Secretary, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises," an official statement said.
Born in 1957, Kumar is a 1981 batch officer and holds M.Sc M.Phil (Botany) degree.
He has served the Central as well as Uttar Pradesh government in various capacities. He was also posted as additional secretary in Department of Agriculture & Cooperation and Development Commissioner (Handlooms) in Ministry of Textiles.

The statement added, he was director in the Department of Fertilisers from May 1999 to March 2001 and then joint secretary till July 2004 in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
He has also worked as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority, Vice-chairman Lucknow Development Authority, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation and District Magistrate in Moradabad and Rampur districts.
Also, he was posted as Principal Secretary in departments of social welfare, women and child development, trade and taxes, revenue, science and technology and non-conventional energy sources department among others in Uttar Pradesh.
