Bank manager threatened by customers, seeks police protection

The manager of Punjab National Bank's branch at Kutba village in the district has sought security for himself after some customers threatened with dire consequences by some customers whose unused accounts were closed, police said today.
Kranti Rathi lodged a complaint last evening alleging that three persons threatened him with dire consequences after their accounts were closed as no transactions were made for 2-3 months, SHO Subhash Chand said.
A case has been registered in this connection and investigation is on, he said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) workers gheraoed the SBI manager of Bhokaheri town branch and locked the main gate.
RLD district vice president Sumit Sehrawat staged a dharna outside the branch protesting cash crunchy at the bank.
In another incident, several women led by 'Jan Kalyan Upabhokta Samiti' protested against cash crunch outside the District Collectorate last evening.
They also submitted a memorandum for President Pranab Mukerjee to the district magistrate and demanded easing of hardship faced by the people post demonetisation.
