Banking operations were partially hit on Tuesday in Telangana as two employee-unions observed a strike in response to a nationwide call, protesting the merger of banks and fall in deposit rates.
Some services like cash deposit and withdrawals and cheque clearances weren impacted due to the strike by banking staff, AIBEA national secretary B S Rambabu said.
"As SBI employees did not participate in the strike, cash transactions in that bank did not have any impact.
However, in Andhra Bank, they were completely paralysed," Rambabau told PTI.
He also claimed that AIBEA has over five lakh members, out of which one lakh are from Cooperative and Grameen Banks, which were exempted for the strike call.
