Barley prices rose by Rs 24.50 to Rs 1,410 per quintal in futures trading today, tracking a firming trend at the physical markets on rising demand.

Marketmen attributed rise in barley prices at futures trade to a firming trend at the spot markets following strong demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in November month contract spurted by Rs 24.50, or 1.77 per cent to Rs 1,410 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,240 lots.

Barley for delivery in current month surged by Rs 17.50, or 1.34 per cent to Rs 1,323.50 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 340 lots.
