Base metals rise on stockists' buying, global cues

Base metal prices were trading up by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on increased buying by stockists, driven by a firm trend overseas.
Traders said increased buying by stockists and a firm trend overseas after an earthquake in the main copper producing region of Chile prompted traders to chase the metal higher, mainly buoyed sentiment.
Globally, copper for delivery in three months ended 2.7 per cent higher at USD 6,700 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange in yesterday's trade.
Besides, pick-up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market fuelled the uptrend, they said.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) advanced by Rs 2 each to Rs 365 and Rs 787-797 per kg, respectively.
Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported also enquired higher by Rs 2 each to Rs 114-120, Rs 116 and Rs 122 per kg, respectively.
Following are today's metals' rates (in Rs per kg):
Zinc ingot Rs 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 787-797, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 365, chadri deshi Rs 295.
Lead ingot Rs 116, lead imported Rs 122, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
