After the battery was found at about 10:30 AM, train movement on the rail track was suspended for about 20 minutes, police said.
"A battery without any wire has been found near the Jalandhar-Pathankot rail track by Government Railway Police in the morning," Hoshiarpur Police DSP Bhupinder Singh said.
Police said army personnel were inspecting the battery.
