Advocating 'innovative changes' to counter the latest challenges of cyber crime and terrorism, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police K Rajendra Kumar has asked his men to remain vigilant to thwart the designs of "subversive elements" to revitalise the dormant cells and create unrest in the state.
"The cops need to remain vigilant in future to thwart the designs of subversive elements as they would attempt to revitalise the dormant cells and create unrest in the State. We have to remain abreast with the changing scenario and adopt new methods of policing to counter the challenges of cyber crimes," Kumar said while addressing maiden police 'durbar' here yesterday.
He said the force has to bring innovative changes in its functioning to counter the latest challenges of cyber crime and terrorism.
"With the changing strategy of criminals, the force has to adopt new methods of policing to tackle the hostile situations besides delivering better services to the people," the state police chief said.
He said the state police, after tackling terrorism has emerged as one of the best forces and its sacrifices for the security of the people have been recognised at national and international forums.
The DGP appreciated the jawans and officers for their dedicated efforts, ensuring maintenance of law and order and smooth conduct of the recently concluded 59-day annual yatra to the 3,880 metre high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
"The force, besides its professional duties has remained on forefront to provide assistance to the people, when the need arisen," he said.
