Haryana government today asked the police to take "appropriate action" against those using red light beacons atop vehicles in the state over a week after it authorised the use to only two dignitaries in the state.
According to a release, the Home Department has asked various officials, including DGP, District Magistrates, IGPs of Ranges besides the Commissioners of Police and all SPs "to ensure compliance of instructions and also take appropriate action in case of any violations".
The order comes after Haryana Government, in pursuance of the directions of the Supreme Court, pruned the list of authorised persons and ordered immediate removal of the red beacons atop vehicles of other persons, on March 3.
As per Transport Commissioner Sumita Misra, the Haryana Governor and the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court are authorised to use red light with flasher on the top front of their official vehicles.
In case the vehicle fitted with red light was not carrying the dignitaries, such light would not be used and should be covered by a black cover, she had added.
