She said they have given orders to build infrastructure for the purpose and the service will roll out in the next 2-3 years.
Initially the gas pipe connection will be made available in Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas districts and part of Haldia (East Midnapore).
Industry Minister Amit Mitra said lots of people have problems with LPG cylinders and the piped connection will also be made available in the transport sector.
The state PSU, Greater Calcutta Gas Supply Corporation will be entrusted with the job while another company H Energy will do the gas transmission work.
