State Children and Women's Welfare Minister, Shashi Panja said they had recently signed one such Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra and are now trying to sign MoUs with other states.
"That helps in tracking and rescuing the victims. Our focus is on prevention of trafficking and reintegration of the victim with their families. We lag behind when it comes to prosecution of offenders. Offenders comes out free and then goes back to work as usual," she said at an event here.
The guidelines on child protection committee was also released today.
Under the integrated child protection scheme, these committees play a vigilant role to combat human trafficking at the gram panchayat, village, block, district and state levels.
