Bengaluru blast: UP officials asked to maintain strict vigil

In the wake of the low-intensity bomb blast in Bengaluru, Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Alok Ranjan today directed officials to maintain strict vigil in the state and to initiate a drive against criminals.
Speaking to reporters here, Principal Secretary (Home) Devashish Panda said directives to this effect were issued by the chief secretary during a video conference with commissioners, district magistrates, IGs, DIGs and district police chiefs of the state.
The chief secretary has asked for maintaining a strict vigil on any suspicious movement and to keep a tab on those with the intention to damage harmony.
"The chief secretary also asked officials to maintain strict vigil in sensitive and crowded places and ensure proper handling of even small incidents and cases including those concerning land dispute," Panda said.
He said a planned drive be launched against wanted criminals and those indulging in organised crime, he added.
