Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma today charged the Narendra Modi Government with not doing any welfare work for the country's citizens and said it has only handed them "jhaadu" (broom) in the name of Swachh Bharat campaign.
"The Modi Government which aimed to question the Congress for its 60 years governance has only taken forward the works of the UPA government and not started any welfare programme for the people. In the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan they only handed over jhaadu (broom) to them," the former union minister told reporters here this evening.
On the Prime Minister's Cabinet expansion, Verma said that by inducting some ministers from the minority community people will not forget the Godhra case.
"The blot of Godhra case has become part of history and people of the country cannot forget it," he claimed.
Verma said that the Congress maybe out of power today but it will "return soon," while noting that the country's economy become the fourth largest in the world under the previous UPA regime.
On the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Verma stressed on having modern garbage disposal plants and equipment like those used in foreign countries or else the vision of clean India would remain confined to advertisements.
