Bhahujan Vikas Aaghadi retains power in Vasai-Virar civic body

Bhahujan Vikas Aaghadi led by Maharashtra MLA Hitendra Thakur today retained power in the 115 member Vasai-Virar municipal corporation by bagging 106 seats.
Thakur's party bagged 106 seats while Shiv Sena won 5, Independents 3 and BJP one seat.
Election was held on June 14 where 49 per cent of the electorate had exercised their franchise. Voting was conducted for 111 seats and as four corporators were elected unopposed.
There were 6,87,639 registered voters, out of which 3,14,106 were women and there were 367 candidates in the fray.
