Bharti asked to follow law in domestic violence case: Khetan

AAP leader Ashish Khetan here today said the party had asked former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti to follow legal procedure in the case of domestic violence filed against him by his wife.
"The legal procedure has to be followed in the domestic violence case against Somnath Bharti. Bharti was also asked to follow the legal procedure. State women commission is doing its job," said Khetan, when asked whether his party will take action against Bharti, the party MLA.
"There is a process of reconciliation in which husband and wife are made to sit together. I came to know that such attempts (at reconciliation) are being made," he said.

Khetan was here today as party's observer for Gujarat region.
The former journalist also alleged that BJP-led Central government was misusing its powers.
"On one hand, they use power of the state to cover up the acts of people in the government, ministers or MLAs, and on the other hand, they use the power to harass the opposition....Such things had happened (earlier) during the Emergency," he said.

Khetan also asked why BJP government was not taking action against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over their links with former IPL boss Lalit Modi.
Asked about former AAP minister Jitendra Singh Tomar who was arrested in fake degree case, Khetan conceded that party made a mistake.

"There was some lapse," he said.
About whether Aam Aadmi Party sees Yogendra Yadav's Swaraj Abhiyan as a political threat, Khetan said, "Our entire focus is on the cadre-building. The old friends are an old episode and the party has left the issue behind.
