Bharti AXA General Insurance appoints Deepak Iyer as CEO

Bharti AXA General Insurance (GI) today said it has appointed Deepak Iyer, currently working as the Managing Director-Indian subcontinent at Wrigley India, a subsidiary of the US-based Mars, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and MD.
Iyer is expected to come on board by June-end, 2015, and will take charge from Interim CEO and MD Milind Chalisgaonkar on receipt of regulatory approvals by the company, a release said.
Iyer brings with him 22 years of diverse experience across various aspects of management, sales, marketing, P&L management, operational turnaround, research and development and franchise management across different countries.
Prior to his association with Wrigley, he worked with PepsiCo for 16 years handling multiple international assignments, including those of Senior Franchise Director-Africa, General Manager-North & East India (including Bangladesh, Nepal & Sri Lanka) and Director-Sales for Modern Trade/Food service/Leisure/Travel & Transport channels of the company.
"I am confident that Deepak will successfully leverage his fast-moving consumer goods experience to drive the transformation of our business towards superior customer experience, to develop a solid team and to build innovative solutions to better protect our customers," AXA Asia General Insurance chief executive Gaelle Olivier said.
"This appointment comes at a great time for the company, with AXA reaffirming its commitment to the Indian market, following the changes in the foreign direct investment ordinance," she added.
"As Bharti AXA General Insurance enters the next phase of its growth journey, we are delighted to have Deepak on board. I am confident that with his rich and diverse experience across industries, Deepak will add immense value and help the company achieve its vision," Bharti Enterprises Managing Director Manoj Kohli said.
