IAS officer Bhawna Garg has joined as the Deputy Director General (DDG) in the Chandigarh regional office of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), an official release said today.
Garg, a Punjab cadre officer, replaces IAS officer Ram Subhag Singh who has been repatriated to his parent state of Himachal Pradesh.
The Chandigarh office of the UIDAI has been assigned to enrol and issue Aadhaar to residents of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Garg was earlier serving as Secretary, Employment Generation and Training, Technical Education and Industrial Training with Government of Punjab, the release said.
The focus would now be on enrolling the left-out below adult population, especially in the age category of 0 to 5 years, the release quoting Garg said.
