Sub-inspector S B Avghade of the Shantinagar police station said Ashok Mishrimal Jaiswal (38), the accused, had been caught in connection with a theft at a temple in the town, and was produced with others in the court.
After his bail plea was rejected he abused the judge, A A Bhatewar, and hurled a chappal at him. The judge however ducked and was not hit.
Poilce immediately took Jaiswal away.
Jaiswal had been arrested alongwith Santankumar Babulal Sahani (19) and Rahul Bharat Waghela (19).
