Claiming that the biggest challenge for his National Conference is the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, senior leader Devender Singh Rana today said his party would register a massive win in the elections while "self-seeking parties" will be pushed into a corner.
Rana, Jammu Provincial President of NC, said "the self seeking parties that have already initiated number game" will be pushed into a corner, with his party registering a massive win at the strength of its mass support base and excellent performance of the Omar Abdullah-led government.
Rana, along with senior leaders and workers of NC, paid tributes to Begum Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on her 14th death anniversary at a function at Sheri-e-Kashmir Bhawan here.
Addressing the gathering, he said the best homage to Madr-e-Meharban would be further rejuvenating NC for satiating political urges and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"We value the glorious legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir and make a resolve to meet the expectations of founding fathers of National Conference by foiling the challenges posed by conspirators and anti-people forces," Rana said.
He said the biggest challenge is round the corner and exhorted party activists to prepare for the Assembly polls. He said even political pundits will find their calculations going haywire as National Conference is a cadre-based party, having its presence in even the remotest corner of the state.
"History stands testimony to the fact that NC has braved all challenges with fortitude and emerged as victorious even during most turbulent phases of history," he said.
"The confidence and sincerity with which Omar Abdullah has been serving the people, there is no reason why National Conference will not emerge as a strong party in the ensuing elections," Rana added.
