Durgesh Seth, a native of Sasaram, Bihar is a jewelery merchant and often used to visit Varanasi for business purposes, they said.
According to the police, an abandoned car, belonging to Durgesh, with blood stains and broken window panes was recovered today in Lanka police station area here.
The businessman's father, Ayodhya Seth, told the police that Durgesh was carrying cash worth Rs four lakhs along with some jewelery and suspects foul play.
On a complaint filed by Durgesh's father of abduction and murder, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and further investigations into the case is on, Station Officer Vinod Yadav said.
