Expressing dissatisfaction over bypoll results in Bihar, BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said the poll outcome in the state was a result of regional and local issues.
"Indeed the results are not satisfactory but I dont consider it a defeat...These bypolls were based on regional or local issues," Pradhan, who was Bihar in charge for BJP till the Lok Sabha elections, told reporters on the sidelines of an industry event here.
In the bypolls to 10 Assembly seats in Bihar held last month, the RJD-JD(U)-Congress combine won six seats while BJP got four.
The Petroleum Minister, however, admitted that BJP did not perform as expected in the bypolls.
On Congress president Sonia Gandhi attacking Narendra Modi government over "price rise" and her party's allegation that there was rise in communal tension in the country during first 100 days of NDA rule, he said the party should perform the role of a "constructive opposition".
"We have received a 60-month blessing from the people of this country. Soniaji if at all believes in and respects the democracy of this country, then she should perform the role of a constructive/positive opposition," he said.
Pradhan said the people of this country are watching Congress leaders' "vocabulary".
"They (Congress) reigned for 10 years. They made the whole nation bankrupt so they had to suffer in the general elections," he added.
