Bihar CM, ex-Dy CM exchange words in legislative council

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi were today engaged in verbal duel on the issues pertaining to lakhs of contractual teachers in the legislative council.
No sooner than the zero hour began, BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Rai and others brought adjournment motion to discuss issues like regularisation and transfer of contractual teachers and outstanding demands of unaided schools and colleges in Bihar.
But Chairperson Awadesh Narayan Singh rejected it saying this matter has been debated time and again.
The BJP members, however, persisted with their demand and trooped into the well of the Upper House and raising slogans against the state government on the plight of contractual teachers and unaided schools and colleges in Bihar.

Amid slogan shouting by the opposition members, the Chief Minister said though acceptance or rejection of an adjournment motion was within jurisdiction of the chair, the state government has no objection in a discussion on the issues related to contractual teachers and left the decision to Chair to fix time and date for a debate on the issue.
In fact, a discussion on the contractual teachers issue will go a long way in helping the state government in formulating a policy in this regard and take appropriate action in the matter, Kumar said.
