Civil Surgeon of Purnea S N Jha said Lessi Singh was out of danger, but was still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He said the minister fainted because of gastro problems and shooting up of blood pressure due to the fast and has been recommended a week's rest.
Lessi Singh, MLA from Dhamdhaha constituency and the minister for Social Justice and Disaster Management, fainted while observing a protest fast at the headquarters of Dhamdhaha block of Purnea district and was rushed to the hospital.
More than 60,000 JD(U) workers and leaders were observing a protest fast today across the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar against the Centre's Land Acquisition Bill.
