Punjab residents will be able to obtain birth and death certificates through online mode from August this year.
The new system will be rolled out in August and the officials have been asked to give certificates within seven days of receiving an application, Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi said during a meeting here.
The minister also took stock of the ongoing projects of the department and issued strictures for time-bound completion of work.
He asked the officers to formulate fool-proof blueprints for future projects so as to avoid any financial scarcity.
