BJP today accused the ruling BJD in Odisha for "breeding corruption" during its rule in the state for years after CBI arrested its Lok Sabha MP Ramchandra Hansdah and a former MLA were arrested in connection with the chit fund scam case.
The party said BJD's fort was now crumbling as "termites of corruption" had hollowed it and its MPs and other leaders were being arrested for their corrupt practices.
"The speed with which BJD MPs and MLAs are being arrested for their complicity in Odisha chit fund scam, it only points to the fact that the termites of corruption over a period of time hollowed the party and today their fort is on the verge of collapse in Odisha," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
"BJD is breeding corruption during its regime in the state," he alleged.
He also credited the state BJP workers for exposing corruptions by the BJD during its regime.
"The issue of chit fund scam had been raised by BJP workers in Odisha since long and today their hard work has paid off," the BJP leader claimed.
CBI today arrested BJD Lok Sabha MP from Mayurbhanj Ramchandra Hansdah and two former MLAs in connection with a chit fund scam case -- an off shoot of Saradha scam -- for allegedly duping thousands of investors through a company founded by them.
The probe agency arrested Hansdah, along with Subarna Naik -- former MLA of BJD and Hitesh Kumar Bagartti -- former BJP MLA in connection with the scam.
The trio were alleged to be founder directors of Nabadiganta Capital Services which ran the chit fund through which thousands of investors were allegedly duped.
Nabadiganta Capital Services is one of the 44 companies under the scanner of the investigating agency for its alleged involvement in the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha.
