BJP alleges Jharkhand CM violated poll code

Accusing Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of being in Dumka even after campaign ended today, the BJP demanded that the administration immediately ask him to leave the constituency as it was 'violation' of the Model Code of Conduct.
"We left as soon as the campaign ended adhering to the MCC. But the chief minister is still in Dumka, where polls would be held on April 24, violating the code," BJP state unit president Ravindra Rai told reporters here.
Rai quoted that under the Representation of the People Act, the presence of political functionaries, who have been brought from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency, should not continue to remain present in the constituency as their continued presence after campaign ends may undermine the atmosphere for free and fair poll.

Stating that the chief minister is a voter in Ranchi and not in Dumka, he said the EC and the Dumka district administration should push him out of the constituency immediately.
The chief minister's father and JMM supremo Shibu Soren is contesting from Dumka LS seat.
