A press statement issued by the BJP state unit said Thanhawla, who is also the state PCC chief, must know that the BJP has been getting stronger day by day in the Christian-dominated state.
The Congress ruled the north-east for years but failed to bring true development in the region, the statement said, adding the BJP has been growing as people want development.
The Chief Minister had last Friday said that the BJP has been planning to launch massive campaign in the north-east region for which a committee was set up in Guwahati.
He said that the BJP seems to have made inroads even in the Christian-dominated Meghalaya state and had penetrated Arunachal Pradesh while they (BJP) thought that Manipur would not be very difficult.
The BJP also has a chance to enter Nagaland if the political polarisation continues, the PCC chief had said while addressing party workers here.
