BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said his party was in favour of bringing in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) but claimed it was the central government that had not done the preparation required for its implementation.
"As far as BJP is concerned, we are in favour of the GST. Nobody should have any doubts regarding it," Modi said addressing an event.
The Gujarat Chief Minister said the states had concerns related to their finances which the Centre should deal with sympathetically.
Modi took a dig at the UPA government which is about to complete its term, saying it seemed there were initiatives which some people are not destined to take.
He said the Centre and states need to work in tandem. "I believe that not just the PM and his cabinet but the PM and the CMs which are a team to run the country," Modi said.
Modi alleged the thinking of his opponents was such that if a state like like Madhya Pradesh grew in agriculture under Shivraj Singh Chauhan some others would become unhappy.
