Under attack, BJP today sought to distance itself from controversial 'Ghar Wapsi' events, but batted for a "strong" anti-conversion law to stop "innocent people" from being lured by "other" religious groups.
Senior BJP leader Om Mathur said here, "A strong anti-conversion law is needed to stop innocent people from being lured for conversion by other religious groups."
The BJP's UP in-charge also attacked the ruling Samajwadi Party on law and order front.
"Akhilesh Yadav-led UP government has failed in controlling crimes in the state and the recent shootout on Mathura jail premises reflects it," he said.
On Delhi Assembly polls, Mathur exuded confidence that BJP will form the government in the national capital with "full majority".
However, Mathur evaded questions that BJP was facing leadership crunch ahead of Delhi polls and therefore it was inducting AAP leaders like Vinod Kumar Binny and Shazia Ilmi and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi.
