Accusing the Narendra Modi government of indulging in "vendetta politics", Congress workers today staged a sit-in here to express their solidarity with party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul in connection with the National Herald case.
"We are the people who follow the rule of law and that is the reason why our president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul went to the court in Delhi to attend the hearing...The present government led by Narendra Modi is indulging in vendetta politics," JKPCC Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir alleged.
He said the entire Congress cadre across the country stands behind the party leadership.
Mir said the case had been dismissed by the court on several occasions and the BJP leadership was trying to frame the Congress leaders as part of its political vendetta.
"The BJP leader (Subramanian Swamy) has filed a fake and fabricated case," he alleged.
The party leaders and workers raised slogans against the Modi government and said they would continue the fight till it reaches a logical conclusion.
"People across the country have started to see what BJP and its leadership is doing...They have been given a reply in the recently-concluded Bihar elections and by-elections for Ratlam Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh," senior Congress leader and former minister Raman Bhalla said.
He claimed that Congress was posed to stage a massive come back across the country and this has made BJP "nervous".
