Five persons, including Siwan town BJP MLA's son, were arrested for possessing liquor bottles from a place under Mairwa police station in Bihar's Siwan district today.
Superintendent of Police Naveen Chandra Jha said that BJP town MLA and former state minister Vyasdeo Prasad's son Vikas Kumar and four others were arrested as two bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were found from their vehicle.
The police nabbed them during a vehicle checking drive at Biswania under Mairwa police station when they were coming from Uttar Pradesh, the SP said adding that police found two bottles of liquor from their vehicle.
The Bihar government enforced prohibition in the state in April 2016.
The new liquor law has stringent provision of a minimum 10 years of jail term which may extend to imprisonment for life besides fine from Rs one lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
